Hi, My name is Kevin Short, and I'm the proprietor of Ise Up Aerial Image & Video. In a nutshell: I have always been interested in photography ever since my dad gave me his old Kodak Box Brownie. And at the age of 10 in the mid 1970's to be given a camera this was a huge privilege and honour to be trusted with such hi-tech hardware. Within half an hour I broke it. You see, I never realised the film roll had finished its last shot as I continued to struggle turning the winder. I then heard a distinctive cracking sound, followed by a very loose winder. Undeterred I took the matter in-hand to investigate why this happened by opening the back of the camera. I couldn't see anything due to a lodged film in the way, so I pulled out the entire reel of film rather than the cartridge, exposing it to a very bright summer's day. When I reached the age of 13 and being a little wiser I was given a Kodak Instamatic, complete with a disposable box flash that pushed into the top. Oh yes, all mod-cons. Now finally enjoying my new passion I went on to buy my own upgrades such as SLR and digital cameras, taking mainly photographs of  historical buildings, landscapes and aircraft - aeroplanes being my second passion. In fact my father, grandparents, uncles, great uncles, even my step father were all RAF veterans serving either in the second world war, Malaya and the Middle East. My step father being top of the tree flew fast jets including Vampires and F4 Phantoms. I, on the other hand, although having a huge interest in aeroplanes and making countless models in my youth, including my own radio controlled and gas powered aircraft kits, ended up joining the army and driving recovery vehicles.

Nevertheless, my interest in photography and radio controlled aeroplanes suddenly collided around 12 years ago. And out of the collision emerged my latest passion - flying drones whilst taking photographs and videos of landscapes, coastlines and buildings of interest. But recent years have seen almost every law and regulation regarding owning and flying drones dramatically change, making many leisure owners give up their hobby in fear of prosecution. But for some, including me, took the plunge and studied like crazy to pass the appropriate exams and qualify as professional drone pilots.

Professional UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) pilots have to abide by United Kingdom Rules, Laws and Regulations no different to other commercial pilots, where legislation permits only those that have passed various exams to achieve an approved CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) licence to fly drones. This means we are governed and regulated by the CAA with individual identification Flyer and Operator numbers.

Ise Up Aerial Image & Video prides itself upon adhering to all CAA and Health & Safety regulations regarding the wellbeing of staff, customers and public alike. This includes being fully insured against injury and damage with £5million public liability insurance to fly at altitudes of up to the maximum height permitted of 120 metres (400 feet) and the maximum distance of the telemetry visual line of sight (VLOS) of the UAV.
